OUR STORY We are very excited to share Marilyn Mayfly narrow boat with you! Our mum passed away in 2019 . She was diagnosed with motor neurone disease and fought a hard battle. She was a beautiful soul and she asked us to promise her we would do our best in life to share what we have, be kind, make a difference be it big or small and to never stop chasing our dreams. Subsequently we decided to invest in something that would tick all those boxes and Marilyn Mayfly entered our lives. So you see she is an extra special vessel and we are confident that any welcome guest will love her as much as we do! So please, come and see for yourselves and have yourself a treat on the canal. We will be donating 5% of our profits to motor neurone disease association and hopefully together we can make that difference after all. Best wishes, The Marilyn Mayfly Team THE BOAT Marilyn Mayfly is a beautiful traditional style 61ft narrow boat with 6ft 6 inches of headroom. Built in 2007 by Paul Widdowson boat makers. She has a stunning combination of double glazed port hole windows, wooden side hatches with venetian blinds and with 12 and 24 volt options. The glorious oak interior is super cosy in the colder months. Her wooden side hatches open wide so guests can admire views and absorb the fresh air. She has proudly been part of the well known Crick Boat shows during 2018. Marilyn Mayfly provides full central heating system along with an LPG system (liquified petroleum gas) and boasts diesel / hot air heating also. Location. North Kilworth Marina is set among the beautiful Leicestershire countryside on the 21 mile lock free. Welford is a 1hr cruise south and the famous Foxton Locks are a 2.5hr cruise north. Foxton Locks – Situated on the Grand Union Canal the flight of locks at Foxton was built in 1810 by W H Gwynne a very popular location with boaters, walkers and cyclists visit the Foxton Museum or watch the colourful boats make their way through the locks. Visit the museum. Market Harborough – Located on the borders of Leicestershire and Northamptonshire this is a busy market town mid-way between Leicester and Northampton a branch of the Canal was opened in 1809 and joins The Grand Union Canal and The Grand Union Leicester Line at the nearby Foxton Locks On the canal there are several pubs and one is the Wharf at Welford which is listed in the CAMRA good beer guide. There are also 2 pubs at Foxton Locks. Space Centre – The National Space Centre in Leicester is the only visitor attraction solely dedicated to space learn facts and mythical information about the planets and go on an interactive journey through six stunning galleries to explore the Universe. Crick – Nestling in the Northamptonshire countryside and on the Grand Union Canal once a year this picturesque and quaint village becomes a hive of activity when the annual Boat Show is held enjoy the free boat trips or stroll along the tow-paths to the many pretty pubs and restaurants.
