The doors opened to the public in Summer 2025, introducing Chelmsford to a bold and distinctive dining experience led by celebrity chef Prab, the restaurant’s Executive Chef. Prab brings an exceptional culinary pedigree, having previously been a Head Chef at Steak & Lobster, worked with The Taj, a five-star luxury hotel group. he worked in counties like Maldives, Sri Lanka and the UK, and also held positions at Marriott London.
At Arugam Bay, he has personally designed an exclusive menu, crafted from his own secret recipes and refined global experience.
Originally launched as a seafood and Pan-Asian restaurant, Arugam Bay quickly found that dishes inspired by Arugam Bay, Sri Lanka became firm guest favourites. Within just six months, the restaurant fully evolved and proudly rebranded as a Sri Lankan restaurant, now offering the only dedicated Sri Lankan dining experience on Essex High Street.
Above the restaurant sits the elegant Cinnamon Bar and Lounge, a versatile event space capable of accommodating up to 70 guests, making it ideal for private celebrations, corporate events, and special occasions.
Today, Arugam Bay has become a household name in Chelmsford — a must-visit destination for memorable dinners and authentic flavours. Widely regarded as one of the top three restaurants in Chelmsford, it continues to set the standard for Sri Lankan cuisine in Essex.
